Sambal Tumis is a small family run restaurant in Bournemouth. We're here to bring the wonderful flavours of Malaysian cuisine which we take pride in preparing.

How We Cook

We cook from our hearts. We do not do anything out of the extraordinary, all we have done over the years is to do the basics but on a very high level. We want to create memorable and sincere culinary experience for our customer.

We pride ourselves on having a team of professional chefs who have years of experience in the food industry, and while they come from a variety of different backgrounds, but they all share a common goal – making great food. We are always looking to get better and better so that you always want to come back for more. Our servers are polite and fun to be around, too – they’re always ready to connect with our customers.

I must say the menu is great because there is something for everyone - from Nasi lemak to Asam pedas! � I had Nasi ayam the other day because that was what I’ve been missing the most � The portion was generous, memang sedap.. If you come here, you would be able to satisfy your Malaysian food cravings especially for those who go back to Malaysia only once in a while (like myself) because they have satay, rendang, laksa nyonya and best of all, Air batu campur a.k.a ABC (� drools, I know!) I enjoyed dining at the restaurant due to the relaxing ambience. �Thumbs up for comfort food, reasonable pricing and good location - walking distance from Bournemouth train station. �It goes without saying that it has been a long time coming and now it’s finally available - a restaurant in South England with authentic home-cooked Malaysian food. �Will come again soon! Absolutely amazing! Fantastic food, as good if not better than I have tasted on my many trips to Malaysia. Mo and Sheena are hosts with the most, excellent service, the entire experience was 5*. Mo is without a doubt the most enthusiastic Catering Manager that I have ever worked with and it was a great pleasure to take my colleagues to this fantastic restaurant. I'm so pleased to see Mo and Sheena doing so well, they deserve every success. Beef Randang was to die for! Satay sauce was the best ever �

A great new addition to the local food scene. Service was great, food was really interesting and not just the usual usual, especially loved the chilli squid with the homemade chilli sauce (top secret recipe) and the lamb satay were excellent. Child friendly too which was a real bonus. About 10 other things on the menu that I would like to try but can't find locally elsewhere. We will be back soon! Good luck guys!
